Great location, beautiful house with nice furniture and nice stuff. Everything you need is aroung the corner. If you like a cozy and quiet hostel, this is the place to be for you.
Pro's: wonderful staff who were talkative and involved; brilliant, central location; spotless rooms & communal area; big, spacious, secure rooms with excellent facilities. Will be returning later in the year as we absolutely loved it - a must if you're in Budapest!
This felt like spending a couple of nights at a friend's condo. Just a nice, quiet place. There aren't a lot of rooms, about 4-8, I wasn't in the hostel very much (There's that much to do in Budapest!) and we had to share a bathroom, though that was never an issue. It's a gritty, historic in-facing courtyard building. I think some rooms will have a street-facing view of the boulevard, which sounds great, but keep in mind that you may have a view of of the interior. Not quite as charming.
As others have said, the staff is very nice. We were received by a woman who showed us around the hostel and told us about some of the main sights in the city. She also complimented my Hungarian, solely due to the fact that I pronounced it "Budapeshhht"! Most of the time, there was no one there, so there's a lot of independence.
"Downtown Oasis" is spot on. It's a peaceful hostel, just steps from all the major attractions on the "Pest" side of the city. This is a very good choice if you're looking for a more laid-back experience.
In lign with all the other reviews, this place is very recommendable. Be ready to feel clueless when checking in, make sure you have prior arrangements with the (very friendly) staff or have their phone number at hand. Bathroom, kitchen, living room, the rooms, it was all above expectations.
Great location - within walking distance of several major attractions and nightlife. Comfortable and cozy budget accommodation with nice kitchen and common area. Stayed for six nights in a private room with ensuite bathroom and double bed - would definitely return! There was a slight smell issue with the plumbing that we barely noticed (and they had fixed) but the owners still reduced our bill and gave us a free bottle of wine - tremendous and friendly customer service. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
This place is excellent if you are traveling with your couple. Cozy, clean, private, and very well located. The staff are not present all the time at the apartment but are always ready to help. I so recommend Downtown Oasis!
I had a very pleasant stay at the hostel throughout my two nights staying! I didnt expect the ambient of the place would be that cosy, and it turned out that everything is excellent from the location, facilities and the help of the staff as well
Overall we had a nice room, a double bed private with an ensuite. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable and had a good fan for the heat. The kitchen was quite nice for preparing your own meals. Only downfalls were that the bathroom stunk, so bad it would keep us up at night, and that the staff were very difficult to locate when we needed them. When we arrived we wandered the whole apartment complex trying to find them as their were no signs posted. Once found, staff were friendly and nice. Overall, good, cheap hostel and definitely worth the stay.
Liked: Right in the center of town, this cosy little hostel's great for anyone thinking of visiting Budapest! Very close to the metro station and with a Spar next door as well. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, would recommend definitely if visiting Budapest
Liked: The apartment is really beautiful and nicely furnished! It's located right in the centre, so everything's in walking distance! We also felt really safe, as there are a lot of doors and locks on your way to the apartment and the "receptionist" gave us a warm welcome and a lot of useful tips.
Disliked: The (fresh) towels smelled a little, maybe replace them?
